IN TANDEM
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Keyon Concepcion and sophomore wide receiver Que Moore continued their steady production in a 31-17 setback against Fairmont State to conclude the Mountain East Conference portion of the schedule. Concepcion hauled in four passes for 46 yards. It was the seventh game this season that the Rochester, New York native has caught four or more passes in a game. And Concepcion heads into the final week of the season still looking for his first career touchdown in the Maroon and Gray. For Moore, he also caught four passes versus Fairmont State for 83 yards. It was Moore's third-highest yardage output of the season. The 1,109 yards that Concepcion (566) and Moore (543) have combined for this season is the second-highest total in the MEC among two teammates.

MAKING PLAYS
On the defensive side, sophomore linebacker Xavier Ellison and junior defensive back Nehemiah Scott continued to lead the Concord defense versus Fairmont State. Ellison rolled up 11 tackles which was two shy of his career that he recorded at Frostburg State (Oct. 4). Scott added nine tackles which marked the sixth time this season the Richmond, Virginia native has notched nine or more tackles. Both players added a tackle for loss against Fairmont State with Scott throwing in his 13th pass break-up of the season. Not only have Ellison (75) and Scott (87) combined for 162 tackles this fall, but the duo has also accounted for 18 of Concord's 55 tackles for loss. Scott has 10 TFLs in 2025 while Ellison has added eight. Senior defensive lineman Ethan Rennels has also chipped in 7.5 TFLs.

CHASING THE LEADER – OFFENSE
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Concepcion and sophomore quarterback Tyler Mizzell both have chances to finish as the statistical leaders in the MEC in a few different categories. Concepcion goes into Week 11 of the year four receptions behind West Virginia State's Amare Ary for the conference lead in catches, 50-46. Mizzell starts the week with 2,630 passing yards which is 11 yards behind Glenville State's Anthony Garrett for the MEC lead—this is the first time all year Mizzell has not been in the lead in passing yards in the conference. Mizzell is five completions behind Fairmont State's Nino Marzullo (198-193) for the season, and CU's signal caller is tied with Marzullo for touchdown passes with both players having 22. The Concord offensive line has a three-sack cushion for fewest sacks allowed. The Mountain Lions have only allowed seven sacks which is ahead of Frostburg State (10) for second.

CHASING THE LEADER – DEFENSE
Scott has a chance to finish as the MEC statistical in a few categories as well, on the defensive side. He starts the weekend tied with Frostburg State's Will Burns for the conference lead in pass break-ups (13). Scott will need to have a big week to catch West Liberty's Grant Thompson for the MEC best in TFLs. Scott's 10.0 TFLs are three behind Thompson, although Scott did have a game this season with 4.5 TFLs, versus West Virginia Wesleyan (Oct. 25). Senior defensive back Corey Radcliff has not suited up in the last two games, but he starts the weekend tied with Wheeling's Leonard Sherrod for most interceptions in the MEC (five).

REGIONAL GAME
Saturday will be the first encounter between Concord and Ferrum on the gridiron as the Panthers are making the move up to Division III to Division II, beginning this academic year. However, the schools are separated by just 101 miles, making it CU's second-closest non-conference Division II opponent behind Bluefield State (18 miles). The Mountain Lions will look to go 2-0 against teams from the state of Virginia this weekend as Concord defeated UVa.-Wise, 37-29, to start the year. Saturday will be a homecoming of sorts for 20 Mountain Lions from the Commonwealth. Just two Concord players on the two-deep are from the state of Virginia, Scott and sophomore defensive Ky Brown, both Richmond natives. Brown has started the last two weeks in place of Radcliff, racking up eight tackles.

LOCK 'EM DOWN
Throughout the season, the CU defense has been one of the best in the MEC. Heading into Saturday's game, Concord is allowing 366 yards per game which is second best in the conference. The Mountain Lion defense has allowed less than 400 yards in six games this year, and have three games surrendering less than 350 yards, but the all three games came in the first five contests of the year. CU gets a Ferrum offense that is only averaging 277 yards per game in 2025. The Panthers average 161 yards through the air where the Maroon and Gray have been stingy this fall. Concord only allows 182.4 passing yards per game which is top 35 in Division II. CU has only allowed more than 200 yards passing in five games this season.

TURNOVER BATTLE
Turnovers could prove to be pivotal Saturday afternoon. Despite having a 4-6 record, Ferrum has a +3 turnover margin on the season. Meanwhile, the Mountain Lions are -6 in turnover margin this year, but Concord is 2-0 in games where it forces three or more turnovers. Against Fairmont State, CU only forced one turnover—the first career interception for redshirt freshman defensive back Berlin Campfort. Concord has at least one takeaway in eight of 10 games this season. For Ferrum, the Panthers have forced a total of 13 turnovers, and have five games with two or more takeaways, including last week in a 40-37 overtime win over Chowan. Over the last three games, FC has six interceptions.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
5- Mizzell's 2,630 passing yards are tied for the fifth most in a single season at Concord with Mike Lazo (1996).

8- Yards needed by Mizzell to move past Jack Mangel (2021) for fourth in single-season passing at CU.

412- Yards of offense by Concord in its only other game versus a Virginia school this season, UVa.-Wise.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
In year two under head coach Kevin Sherman, Ferrum would equal its win total from a season ago when FC went 5-5, with a win Saturday. Eli Foutz has thrown for 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns. Omarza Gray has amassed 642 yards through the air with five touchdowns. The ground game is paced by Jahylen Lee who has 523 yards and three scores.  Cameron Ross is the top tackler with 54 stops that includes 6.5 tackles for loss. Peja Brent has three takeaways (two interceptions, one fumble recovery).
