LAST TIME OUT
Concord's men's team placed 14th at the highly-competitive Greater Louisville Classic. The field featured 417 finishers. For the first time in his career, junior AJ Skeens was CU's number one runner as he clocked 26:10 for the 8,000-meter course. Fellow junior Braden Ward ran the exact time as the duo finished 68th and 69th, respectively. Junior Bramley Childress was in the top 100 as he sported a 94th-place finish in a time of 26:22. Sophomore Reese Hickey just missed the top 100 as he ran 26:28 and finished 106th. Freshman Johnny Walkup was the fifth runner for Concord in a time of 26:47.

For the third time in as many meets, freshman Violet Wall led the Concord women's team as she placed 47th in a field of over 400 athletes. She clocked 23:02 for the 6,000-meter course. Senior Katy Walkup grabbed a spot in the top 150 as she came through in 24:14. Freshman Avery Lilly ran 24:52. Sophomore Kate Kelly finished up in 25:12 while junior Charlotte McGinnis was CU's final scoring runner in 26:26.

CONCORD ALUMNI PREVIEW
The Mountain Lion men have won the Concord Alumni Invite five straight years and eight of the last nine years. CU's streak will be put to the test by Charleston and Davis & Elkins who are not only the top two teams in the Mountain East Conference, but also in the Atlantic Region. Ward has finished third each of the last two years at Pipestem. Two years ago, Skeens (seventh) and junior Andrew Tickle (ninth) were in the top 10 while the duo settled for spots in the top 20 in 2024—Tickle (12th) and Skeens (16th). Ward's time of 25:56 from last year is the third-fastest all-time showing in program history at Pipestem while Tickle's 26:39 is good enough for ninth all-time.

On the women's side, they will battle the same two top teams in the MEC in Charleston and Davis & Elkins. The CU ladies have a similar streak on the line Friday as the Maroon and Gray has won the Concord Alumni Invite four times in a row and eight of the last nine years. Walkup just missed going under 20 minutes last year as she clocked 20:02 in the runner-up position. Junior Sara Turner was fourth in 21:18 while McGinnis followed in fifth (21:32). Also in the top 10 was junior Abbey Londeree (eighth/21:47). Walkup's time from last year is tied for ninth in program history at Pipestem.
