Davis Named MEC Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Junior libero Allie Davis of the Concord University volleyball team has been named Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

This is Davis' second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season after she earned the first honor for the week of September 15.

She picked up 62 total digs across three matches this week, for an average of 5.17 digs per set across the 12 sets played. This helped Concord to a 2-1 record.

In the 3-1 victory at Bluefield State, Davis tallied 18 digs. She collected 23 digs in the four set loss to Wheeling and 21 in the victory over West Liberty. Across all three matches, Davis committed just one reception error in 68 chances.

She even provided some offense for the Mountain Lions, piling on five aces from the service line.

Davis ranks second in the MEC in digs per set on the year (4.86). 

West Virginia State's Nicole Gartner-Custodio picked up MEC Offensive Player of the week.

The Players of the Week will square off in Concord's next match as CU travels to face West Virginia State Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
