PIPESTEM, W.Va. – The Concord University women's cross country team claimed the first eight spots and 10 of the top 12 places to win the Concord Alumni Invite Friday afternoon at Pipstem State Park.
Freshman
Violet Wall broke the Concord program record for the 5,000-meter course at Pipestem by clocking 19:12, eclipsing the previous record by 17 seconds set in 2017 by Sydney Haynes. Senior
Katy Walkup followed in the runner-up position as she also went under the previous course record with a showing of 19:23.
Freshman
Avery Lilly ran her first career 5,000-meter race under 20 minutes as she clocked 19:56 in third. Junior
Charlotte McGinnis placed fourth as she came through in 20:56. Junior
Sara Turner completed the top five in a time of 21:04.
Junior
Piper Doughton ran a time of 21:18 to place sixth while fellow junior
Abbey Londeree stopped the timer at 21:53 for seventh. Freshman
Emma Willie was eighth as she recorded a time of 22:11.
Sophomore
Kate Kelly finished 11
th in 23:22 with freshman
Molly Jones being 10 seconds behind in 12
th.
The Mountain Lion field was rounded out by sophomore
Larah Blevins (15
th/24:55), senior
Emma Londeree (16
th/25:13) and freshman
Larissa Wickline (17
th/25:55).
Friday was the final tune-up of the regular season for CU as it prepares for the Mountain East Conference Championship October 25 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
