PIPESTEM, W.Va. – The Concord University men's cross country team rolled to a win at the Concord Alumni Invite Friday afternoon at Pipestem State Park.
The Mountain Lions scored 18 points for the team victory. Second place was Davis & Elkins with 43 points.
Junior
Braden Ward picked up the individual win for Concord as he crossed the finish line in 26:08 for the 8,000-meter course. Ward's effort was backed up by sophomore
Brandon Canaday who ran 26:35 and was the runner-up.
Junior
AJ Skeens clocked 26:47 for a fourth-place showing. The final two scorers for the Mountain Liosn were
Reese Hickey (27:00) in fifth and junior
Bramley Childress (27:17) finishing sixth. Also in the top 10 for Concord were freshman
Johnny Walkup (eighth/27:24) and junior
Andrew Tickle (ninth/27:33).
Graduate student
Connor Cormack clocked 28:22 as he finished 13
th while junior
Garrett Hatcher came through in 28:54 to place 16
th. Junior
Wes Holcomb completed the course in 29:39 as he placed 18
th. Freshman
Zach Neal sported a top-20 finish as he clocked 30:19 to finish 19
th.
Concord's next meet will be the Mountain East Conference Championship October 25 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
