NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Concord University women's track & field team placed 13
th at Muskingum's Muskie Meet inside the Bullock Complex Saturday afternoon.
Concord posted 15 points. Ohio Northern racked up 219 points to win the meet.
Freshman
Cassidy Hammonds scored points in two events for the Mountain Lions. First, she was the runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 5.12 meters. She followed it up with a fifth-place showing in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.84 seconds in the preliminary round.
Junior
Lilly Jackson was 16
th in the long jump as her best jump was 4.47 meters. Also in field event action, freshman
Cierra Parker cleared 1.51 meters to finish fifth. Jackson and freshman
Kendall Lilly both cleared 1.36 meters to finish in a tie for 16
th.
Concord had two top-10 showings in the 500-meter dash. Freshman
Jenna Webb clocked 28.53 seconds to place eighth. Senior
Alexis Anzevino was a spot behind in 1:33.21.
CU's 4x400-meter relay squad of Hammonds, Parker, Webb and sophomore
Izzy Williams combined to run 4:30.22 to place fifth. Williams added to her day with a 15
th-finish in the 60-meter dash (8.46 seconds)
Six Mountain Lions were in the top 20 of the 800-meter run. The top placer was junior
Emma Jenkins who came through in eighth with a time of 2:37.68. Freshman
Kate Kelly placed 10th, crossing the tape in 2:36.56.
Other finishers included senior
Madison Cornett (11
th/2:43.61), sophomore
Charlotte McGinnis (12
th/2:44.33), junior
Katy Walkup (13
th/2:44.33) and sophomore
Sara Turner (15
th/2:47.64).
In the mile, Jenkins claimed 16
th in a time of 5:39.14 while Walkup was the final top-20 finisher in a time of 5:42.46.
Having already competed at Roanoke College earlier this month, CU returns to Salem, Virginia for the Bast Cregger Invite January 31-February 1.
