OVAR, Portugal – Former Concord University men's basketball standout Lual Daniel Rahama has signed a second professional contract in Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB) as he has agreed to terms with Ovarense, the club recently announced.
Rahama spent the 2023-24 season with Lusitania in the LPB where he averaged 14.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor, 38.8 percent from three-point range and 81.4 percent from the foul line. He averaged just over 36 minutes played per game. Additionally, Rahama finished top 20 in the league in scoring, rebounding, field-goal percentage and three-point percentage.
Despite the solid individual season for Rahama, Lusitania was just 1-21 during the LPB regular season—Portugal's top league—but the former All-MEC First Teamer is joining a Ovarense club that finished 14-8 in 2023-24 and advanced to the LPB Semifinals.
Rahama played for the Mountain Lions from 2021-23 after transferring from Virginia State. The Newport News, Virginia native averaged 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds in 56 career games at CU. He averaged a double-double of 17.4 points and 10.2 rebounds during the 2022-23 season on his way to be All-MEC First Team and All-Atlantic Region Second Team.
Ovarense will open up the 2024-25 season in late September.
