MIRAMAR, Fla.- Former Concord University men's track & field standout and assistant coach Jonathan Gore will compete in his second USA Paralympic Track & Field Trials Friday and Saturday at the Ansin Sports Complex in south Florida.

Gore, a Paralympian from 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, will get in the blocks in the T64 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in hopes of returning to the USA Paralympic Team to compete in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games August 28-September 8.

Gore made the Tokyo team three years ago in the T64 classification—athletes with movement moderately affected in one lower leg or the absence of one of both legs below the knee. A traumatic accident in 2018 forced the amputation of Gore's left leg at the knee.

In Tokyo, the Fayetteville, West Virginia native finished fourth in the 200-meter dash as he just missed a medal and was seventh in the T64 100-meter dash in 2021.

Gore competes in the 200-meter dash from Miramar 9:30 a.m. Friday. The T64 100-meters is slated for 4:50 p.m. Saturday.

After his races on Friday and Saturday, Gore will find out his late August plans when the selections are made for Team USA Sunday.

Gore starred on the track for the Mountain Lions from 2013-17. He was a seven-time All-Mountain East Conference performer that included winning the 200-meter dash in 2017. Additionally, he was the MEC Championships MVP in 2017 after adding second-place showings in the 100-meters and long jump. He was voted all-region twice in the long jump and still holds the indoor (7.14 meters) and outdoor (7.16 meters) program records in the event.

He served as an assistant coach for Mike Cox from 2020-2023 before moving to Florida to continue his professional training.

The USA Paralympic Track & Field Trials will be broadcast on NBC's streaming service Peacock throughout the weekend. CNBC picks up coverage at 3:00 p.m. Saturday as well as 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
