Concord Records Top Finishes at Jack Toms Invite

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team was at the Dr. Jack Toms Invite hosted by the University of Lynchburg Friday and Saturday.
 
The top performance for CU came in the 800-meter run where graduate student Emily Wallace won the event in a time of 2:17.15—also the top time in the Mountain East Conference this spring. 
 
Two other Mountain Lions placed in the top 10 of their respective event. Sophomore Emma Jenkins was seventh in the 1,500-meter run with in a time of 5:06.54, a top five performance in the conference for the outdoor season. 
 
Freshman Izzy Williams was also seventh in the 100-mewter as she sprinted 12.66 seconds. Williams also had a top-20 finish in the 200-meter dash in the 200-meter dash as she stopped the timer at 26.92 seconds.
 
Freshman Nadiyah Abdussalaam was 17th in the high jump as she cleared 1.40 meters. 
 
Freshman Hayley Collins was 23rd in 400-meter hurdles and senior Taylor Perry finished 24th as the duo ran 1:18.08 and 1:18.52, respectively. 
 
Graduate student Abbey Wallace tossed 27.73 meters in the discus throw and freshman Meagan Poticher was just behind with a toss of 27.71 meters.
 
The Mountain Lions are back in action when they travel back to Lynchburg for the Hornet Open March 29-30.
