ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's track & field teams open up the 2024-25 indoor season at the Marietta First Glimpse at the Dyson Baudo Center Saturday at Marietta College.
2024-25 PREVIEW
The Mountain Lions feature 22 freshmen on the roster (12 men, 10 women). However, plenty of experience return for head coach
Mike Cox. Among the top returners for the Mountain Lions is sophomore
Nadiyah Abdussalaam who earned All-Mountain East Conference in the indoor pentathlon last winter. Junior
Lilly Jackson had a strong finish to the outdoor season as she scored points in the long jump and javelin at the MEC Championships. The distance performers are led by senior
Madison Cornett and junior
Katy Walkup. Sophomore
Izzy Williams spearheads CU's sprints effort.
For the Concord men, senior
Logan Zuchelli is the top return for the distance crew. Sophomore
Braden Ward is coming off an All-MEC cross country season and made a strong push during the outdoor track season. Senior
Ian Gardner is a multi-time All-MEC performer in the 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. Fellow senior
Ethan Board was All-MEC in the 4x400-meter relay during the 2024 outdoor season.

Newcomers highlight the competitors for Concord at Marietta Saturday. A quartet of freshmen,

Max Madsen,
Landon Meredith and
Brady Prior, will be in the blocks in the 55-meter dash. Meredith and Prior will also compete in the 200-meter dash with freshman
Luke Davis and senior
Jonny Sweeney. In middle distance action, freshman
Brandon Canaday, sophomore
Garrett Hatcher, freshman
Garrett Kinder, sophomore
Andrew Tickle and Ward will be in the mile.
Williams leads the Mountain Lions in the women's 55-meter dash. Other entries include senior

Kendall Lilly. Hammonds and Jackson will compete in the long jump while freshman
Gracie McAlister and sophomores
Abby Humphrey and
Meagan Poticher take to the shot put ring. Concord has two 4x400-meter relay teams scheduled to compete. Anzevino, Lilly, junior
Emma Londeree and Williams make up one team. The freshman foursome of Canterbury, Hammonds,
Cierra Parker and
Jenna Webb compromise the other team.

AJ Skeens and Ward compete in the 5,000-meter run Friday afternoon at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open. Board runs the 800-meter dash at GVSU.
