LEXINGTON, Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team competed at the two-day VMI Invite Friday and Saturday at the VMI Corps Training Center.
The distance events highlighted the meet for the Mountain Lions.
Graduate student
Emily Wallace set a new program record in the indoor 3,000-meter run by clocking 10:11.74, 10 seconds fastest than the previous mark set by former teammate
Hannah Altizer in 2022. Wallace finished sixth in the event, and in the process put together the best performance in the event in the MEC this winter.
CU had three top-10 finishes in the 5,000-meter run Friday night. Junior
Madison Cornett clocked 19:11.60 to place third. Sophomore
Katy Walkup came through in 19:15.92 to secure fifth while fellow sophomore
Emma Londeree ran 21:30.49 to finish 10
th.

Alaina Mills combined to run 12:01.80 to place eighth. Meanwhile, CU's 4x400-emter relay of sophomore

Izzy Williams recorded a season-best time of 4:21.58, placing 19
th.
Freshman
Nadiyah Abdussalaam marked 10.45 meters in the triple jump to finish 15
th. And in the 60-meter hurdles her time of 9.91 seconds was 18
th.
Sophomore
Talayna Holmes rounded out the top performances with a time of 8.04 seconds in the 60-meter dash to place 20
th.
Concord travels to the Liberty Open February 3.
