MILESTONES AHEAD
While the Mountain Lions started the year 0-1-1 with a 2-2 draw against Gannon and a 2-1 defeat to nationally-ranked Kutztown, Concord is seeking to obtain two significant wins for the program. In its 26th year of existence, CU is two wins shy of 250 as a program. And head coach Luke Duffy needs four wins to surpass Steve Barrett (1999-07) as the program's winningest coach. Duffy is 84-33-16 in his eight seasons on the sidelines. The Mountain Lions have won four of the last five meetings with West Virginia Wesleyan, outscoring WVWC 19-3 in those games. CU is 3-1-2 versus West Virginia State all-time.

WELCOME TO THE SHOW
Of the three goals scored by Concord over the weekend in Pennsylvania, two Mountain Lions netted their first career goals. Junior forward Sydney Tucker had the game-tying goal versus Gannon in the 83rd minute as CU salvaged a tie. Against Kutztown, freshman midfielder Katie Garratt scored in the 50th minute to open the scoring against the Bears. Junior forward Nora Voisey tallied her second career assist, and first since 2021, against Kutztown while graduate defender Olivia Bekeleski registered just her fourth career assist over the weekend.

A RIVALRY BREWING
For years, Concord and West Virginia Wesleyan battled for supremacy in the old WVIAC. That continued into the MEC once Duffy arrived at Concord. Bekeleski and graduate midfielder Michelle Brogden both have three career points versus Wesleyan. Junior midfielder Anna Davis, sophomore midfielder Jess Neville and Voisey all scored against the Bobcats last year. With CU having its way against Wesleyan, a new rival has come aboard with West Virginia State's success. The last four meetings between CU and WVSU has resulted in a win for each side and two ties. Brogden connected on a penalty kick in a 2-1 loss to WVSU last year while assisting on a goal off a corner kick in a 1-1 tie on the road.

First-year head coach Adam Christensen takes the reins in Buckhannon after previously serving as an assistant coach at Francis Marion. Ellie Pergolotti has scored the only WVWC goal of the season.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS

West Virginia State lost All-American Fran Soares-Cupertino and its head coach Lisa Mann from last year's team that went 17-3-2 and made the NCAA Tournament. Mann has moved onto UAB. Esther Dhiramo scored 10 goals a season ago. She has taken six shots in two games, but has yet to find the back of the net. Longtime WVSU goalkeeper Laura Galindo is back in net for the Yellow Jackets. WVSU let a 2-1 halftime lead slip away at UIndy in its most recent game.
