Box Score 2 CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Concord University volleyball team dropped their two opening games of the West Georgia tournament on Friday against West Georgia and Georgia College.

Meg Williams and senior middle hitter
Csayjah Whitelow, followed by an ace from freshman setter
Declyn Tooze tied the opening set of the tournament 5-5. Williams and freshman outside hitter
Chloe Thompson finished with two kills each as the Wolves would close out set one by a final score of 25-13.

Set 2
Concord was persistent in the opening half of the second fame behind kills from Thompson and freshman right side
Natalie Brown. The Wolves went on runs of 5-0 and 6-2 to win the second set 25-16.

Set 3
CU would stay within reach behind five kills in the set from Williams. Though they were within four points for the majority of the set, the Mountains could not overcome a late 8-2 run by the Wolves and would drop the set 25-14.

Match Stats
Both Thompson and Williams finished the game with eight kills. Thompson also led Concord with 11 digs. Tooze and fellow freshman setter
Paige Richmond shared six digs while assisting on 10 and 5 points, respectively. Whitelow picked up two kills and two blocks for the match.

Match 2: Georgia College 3 – Concord 2 (25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 25-16, 15-11)

Set 1
Concord erased a 9-3 Bobcat start to tie the first set 17-17. Leading the charge for the comeback was Thompson, who had four kills in this stretch, while Williams had three kills and Richmond picked up an ace. Thompson kept the Mountain Lions within reach as she had seven kills in the frame, but the Bobcats would win 25-21.

Set 2
Set number two saw a very balances attack from CU. Williams had five kills, Thompson had four kills while senior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant and Brown each had three kills. Concord seized control of the set early and kept the Bobcats to a constant deficit. Williams hammered home the final kill that would tie the game 1-1.

Set 3
Concord set the tone early,going on a 7-0 run to take an 11-7 lead. Back-to-back kills by Brown gave the Mountain Lions a six-point lead late in the set 18-12. CU would not look back, as kills from Whitelow and Williams would give them a 2-1 set advantage by a score of 25-20.

Set 4
A kill from Whitelow would put Concord ahead early 10-9. The Bobcats would capitalize on a 7-1 scoring run to take the lead 16-11. A four-point swing by the Bobcats late in the set would force set five, 25-16.

Set 5
After trading points through the early goings of the final set, the Mountain Lions would go ahead 7-6 behind kills from Whitelow and Thompson. After a timeout, the Bobcats would rattle off a 5-0 scoring run to take the lead 11-7. Georgia College would win the game-deciding set 15-11, despite three late kills from Thompson

Match Stats
Williams and Thompson both recorded double-doubles in the match. Williams ended with 21 kills and 16 digs, while Thompson finished with 20 kills and 14 digs. Brown tallied nine kills, Whitelow picked up eight kills and two blocks. Pilant led the Mountain Lions with three blocks. Tooze finished with 31 assists, while Richmond hauled in 26 assists and two aces. Freshman defensive specialist
Allie Davis racked up 24 digs with zero errors.

Concord plays two more games in Carrollton on Saturday. CU will face St. Augustine's at 10:00 a.m., followed by a rematch of Tuesday night's opponent Emory & Henry at 12:00 p.m.  Â
