ATHENS, W.Va. – As the final days of 2025 come off the calendar, the Concord University Sports Information Department will look back on the best moments from the past 365 days that includes All-American recognitions, plenty of growth and change in and around the Carter Center and unforgettable games and plays.

From December 22-31, the year-end countdown will highlight one moment each in the Best of 2025.

Into the top five for what was perhaps the best game of the year across any sport at Concord.

For the third straight season, the Concord volleyball team found itself matched up with West Liberty in the Quarterfinal Round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. The 2025 contest served as a rubber match as WLU won in 2023, and CU took the 2024 match in five sets.

Concord won the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 26-24. Despite having an even number of kills in the third set, 14-14, CU saw West Liberty win the set 25-21 before tying the match with a 25-18 victory in the fourth.

Now, Concord's back was really against the wall as the Mountain Lions fell behind 7-2 to start the fifth set. CU stormed back to take a 10-9 lead after a kill from Chloe Thompson. However, the match continued to teeter as the teams traded points. West Liberty had its first match point up 14-13, but Meg Williams' kill kept the set alive.

Then again at 15-14, CU faced match point and elimination from the MEC Tournament. A block from Jasmine Anderson and Maddie Stull evened the game once again. Anderson came up with a kill on the next rally, and a West Liberty attack went long on the next point to push the Mountain Lions to the win, 17-15.

Williams recorded 20 kills and 17 digs. Anderson was incredible with a near double-double of nine kills and 10 blocks—the first 10-block match in nine years for the program. Addison Adkins notched a career-high 17 kills, and Allie Davis threw in 28 digs.
