Best of 2025: #3 Volleyball's 20-Win Campaign

ATHENS, W.Va. – As the final days of 2025 come off the calendar, the Concord University Sports Information Department will look back on the best moments from the past 365 days that includes All-American recognitions, plenty of growth and change in and around the Carter Center and unforgettable games and plays.

From December 22-31, the year-end countdown will highlight one moment each in the Best of 2025.

Helped out by the Mountain East Conference Quarterfinal win over West Liberty, 2025 turned out to a be a memorable year for the Concord volleyball team.

For the first time since the 2002 season, CU turned in a 20-win season as the Maroon and Gray finished with a mark of 21-9.

Some of the highlights for the Mountain Lions included a four-set win at home over West Virginia State which marked the first victory over the Yellow Jackets since 2017, a thrilling five-set win over eventual MEC South Champion West Virginia Wesleyan, a regular-season sweep of Mercer County rival Bluefield State and to open the year Concord downed Shepherd, a perennial NCAA Tournament Team, in five sets.

Concord got off to a 10-0 start and expanded the historic start to 18-2.

The banner year for the Mountain Lions ended with Meg Williams picking up her second straight All-MEC First Team honor, Allie Davis landing on the All-MEC Second Team and Addison Adkins being named to the All-MEC Freshman Team.

Individual milestones were also attained during the season. Williams went over 1,000 kills and now stands at 1,119—good enough for fourth in program history. Davis crossed over 1,500 digs. Her 1,628 digs are fifth in program history. And Paige Richmond is fifth in program history with 1,893 assists. Chloe Thompson will begin her senior season 48 kills shy of 1,000.

The future continues to look bright for Mountain Lion volleyball as head coach Kate Dillon did not have a senior on this year's roster.
