The Mountain Lions began their season 4-0 for the first time since 2003 last weekend in the Cavalier Classic hosted by UVa.-Wise. CU defeated UVa.-Wise, Lees-McRae, Johnson C. Smith, and Davis & Elkins by a combined total of 12 sets to three. A total of four players recorded double-doubles in the victories. Freshman outside hitter

LET'S GET DEFENSIVE
Junior middle hitter
Csayjah Whitelow had a seven-block match in the second match of the weekend versus Lees-McRae as she became the first CU player with seven blocks in a single match in nearly two years. Freshman defensive specialist
Allie Davis did a stellar job of holding down the back row for the Mountain Lions as she leads the Mountain East Conference in digs per set (6.0) after the first weekend of play. Davis had at least 20 digs in three of the four matches over the weekend. With 14 total blocks on the weekend, Whitelow is sixth in the conference in blocks per set (0.93) while senior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant is seventh (0.87).
FRESHMAN HONORS
CU returns home after an outstanding debut Williams in the Cavalier Classic. Williams racked up 61 kills in the first four contests of the season with a hitting percentage of .233. She also collected 26 digs and eight blocks on her way to an MEC Offensive Player of the Week selection. Williams' 61 kills are the most in a four-match stretch for any CU player since
Hannah Steele in October 2021. And Williams' 61 kills are the most in the conference with the next closest being Wheeling's Tylah Yeomans with 46 who played 13 sets over the weekend.

SCOUTING THE WASPS
The Wasps dropped their season opener on the road at Bartonlast Friday, 3-0. All three sets were decided within two points, including one set seeing overtime. Brianna Hogan led E&H with nine kills in the contest. Junior defensive specialist Grace Nelson led the team with 11 digs and two aces. The Wasps also return production from last year in senior middle hitter Hannah Watson and sophomore setter Payton Rolfsen. Former Concord player
