FROSTBURG, Md. – The Concord University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Frostburg State Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game at Bobcat Stadium.
The game's lone goal came in the 42
nd minute as Frostburg State (4-4, 1-4 MEC) broke through with a late first-half goal.
The Mountain Lions (1-2-3, 0-2-3 MEC) owned a 6-5 shot advantage in the first half with sophomore midfielder
Tomas Kelly producing the game's first shot on goal in the 15
th minute. Junior defender
Andre Sardinha had a shot in the 16
th minute.
Right after the goal by the Bobcats, junior midfielder
Andre Nicholson fired a shot target in the 43
rd minute.
Nicholson was in the middle of a couple of scoring threats by CU in the 56
th minute, and prior to his shot on goal junior defender
Dwight Savoury had a shot on frame in the 53
rd minute.
The Mountain Lions withstood FSU's offensive attack in the second half as sophomore goalkeeper
Jason Lavacca made five saves after halftime.
Frostburg State ended the game with a 12-10 shots advantage.
Kelly (four) and Nicholson (three) combined for seven of the Mountain Lion shots in the contest.
Concord hosts Emory & Henry in a non-conference tilt 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia.
