Concord Finishes Tenth at Dr. Wally Edgell Invite

DAVIS, W.Va. - The Concord University men's golf team placed tenth at the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Canaan Valley Resort.

Over three rounds, the Mountain Lions scored 862 (-2) with composite scores of 290 in round one, 284 in round two, and 288 in round three.

Senior Carson Profitt posted three rounds under par for the first time in his Concord career, finishing a personal best -8 for the tournament (70, 69, 69). It is the lowest round by a CU golfer since Noah Clark's -9 performance in the 2021 Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational, also held at Canaan Valley. Proffitt's scores landed him tied for seventh in individual scoring.

Sophomore Zan Hill finished second in scoring for the Mountain Lions with scores of 77, 71, and 69, good for his career low round. Hill ended up placing 44th in individual scoring. Junior Indiana Eades also shot his new career-low with a 70 in round one.

Senior Michael Growe Jr. tied his career-low, scoring a 73 in round three. He finished with a composite score of 222.

Rounding out scoring for the Mountain Lions was junior Peyton Watts with rounds of 75, 79, and 75, and sophomore David Gibb with rounds of 78, 75, and 77.

The University of Charleston took first place in team scoring, with a three day total of 821 (-43). IUP's Alex Swinnterton placed first amongst individual scorers with rounds of 70, 64, and 69 for a three-round total of 203.

CU travels to Warren, Ohio on October 2-4 to compete in the Mountain East Conference Championship at Avalon Lakes Country Club.
