ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team continues its homestand 2:00 p.m. Thursday against Salem and 1:00 p.m. Friday versus Bluefield State in doubleheaders at the CU Softball Field.

HEATING UP
Over her last nine games, sophomore utility Kylee Stacy is hitting .393 (11-for-28) and has collected three multi-hit contests over that span. The Green Cove Springs, Florida native has hit safely in seven of the last nine games and has taken her average to .317—second best on the team. Meanwhile, graduate infielder Sarah Thompson is hitting .437 (7-for-16) in her last six games and has collected four of her eight RBI on the season since February 22. Thompson also blasted her second home run of the season in Monday's 3-2 win over Bluefield University. And speaking of home runs, freshman catcher/utility Lorelai Ellerby hit her first career home run in Tuesday's game versus King.

SIT EM DOWN
In Monday's doubleheader sweep of Bluefield, sophomore pitchers Rachael Koller and Nancy-Jo Roberts rolled through the BU lineup. Both had eight strikeouts. For Roberts, she notched a career high in strikeouts as she scattered three hits in a complete-game shutout, her second straight shutout. Koller also rolled up eight strikeouts as she amassed her most strikeouts in nearly a year. The Columbus, Ohio native racked up 10 strikeouts versus Emory & Henry on March 30 of last season. Both Koller and Roberts had three strikeouts in Tuesday's doubleheader against King.

EASING TO WINS
The Mountain Lions have won six straight games against Salem dating back to 2010 and have won 16 straight versus Bluefield State going back to the 2010 campaign. After outscoring Salem 21-0 in a doubleheader sweep in 2019, the two games in Athens in 2020 were much more competitive with CU winning a pair of one-run games, 4-3 and 3-2. Thompson is 6-for-8 in her career versus Salem with five RBI and two doubles. Furthermore, Thompson had a single-game program-record tying six RBI in a win March 2019 win over Bluefield State. Thompson has 10 hits in four career games versus BSU. Head coach Alyssa Morris hit two of her program-record 46 home runs versus Bluefield State as she faced the Big Blues six times as a player (2013, 2015, 2016).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Meesha Arroyo and Andrea Gallegos have only combined for 22 strikeouts in 52 innings, but both have ERAs under two. Arroyo is holding opponents to a .209 batting average over 22 innings. The Tigers have already beaten Mountain East Conference foe Wheeling to open the season and will face West Liberty Wednesday before traveling to Concord. Arroyo is hitting .333 with a home run and five RBI at the plate.

SCOUTING THE BIG BLUES
Taylor Henson and Valeria Rivera are both hitting over .350 and have combined for 13 RBI this season. Bluefield State's team ERA is over 10. Since sweeping Allen University at the beginning of the year, the Big Blues are 1-11 in their last 12 games. Bluefield State has played two MEC schools in Frostburg State and West Virginia State as they have been outscored 45-5 in those four games.
