BACK TO WORK
The Mountain Lions play the first of eight games Monday after a near two-week layoff. Concord last played February 22 when it split a doubleheader with UVa.-Wise. Sophomore pitcher Nancy-Jo Roberts pitched CU's first shutout in game one versus the Cavaliers since last April 6 when sophomore pitcher Caitlyn Bauer shutout Glenville State, both games were 2-0. Roberts scattered nine hits and stranded 13 UVa.-Wise runners on base. Roberts has both of Concord's wins this year in the circle and has tossed more than half the innings (38.2 of 69). Freshman infielder Lacie Lewis provided the two RBI for CU in the win over UVa.-Wise while junior outfielder Imani Campbell had a hit and an RBI in the nightcap.

LONG TIME COMING
Monday's matchup against Bluefield University will be the first time the two schools play each other since 2000. CU and the Rams have matched up a total of six times, twice in 2000 and four more times in 1995. The 2000 games were the first of the season for the Maroon and Gray as they combined to outscore BU 20-5 in a doubleheader sweep. Five years prior, the first two meetings were split as Bluefield won a slugfest 17-11. CU took game two 12-2. The Mountain Lions received a shutout in game three of the season series, 1-0, before winning the fourth time 9-5.

RETURN TRIP
Tuesday's doubleheader with King will be the backend of a home-and-home series with the Tornado. Last season, CU was swept March 2 in a pair or one-run game, 5-4 and 4-3, in Bristol, Tennessee. Mountain Lions pitching rolled up 16 strikeouts over the doubleheader. Sophomore pitcher Rachael Koller had six in game one while Bauer racked up five in relief in game two. Sophomore outfielder Delaney Fulk hit her first career home run at King last season, and has already homered at home this season—versus Tusculum. Concord and King also met during the 2020 season, before the stoppage of sports, as KU took a 2-0 decision. Senior catcher/first baseman Jolie Privett had two of the Concord hits.

Hallie Cox has collected 22 strikeouts in 14.1 innings in the circle.
