BIG TIME DEBUTS
Freshman infielder
Lacie Lewis has started off the year strong hitting a stellar .714 after her first two collegiate starts going 5-for-7 on the day. Four of the five hits for Lewis came in game two as she came up one hit shy of tying the single-game program record for hits in a group that includes senior
Jolie Privett who had five hits at Davis & Elkins in March 2021. Lewis also showed her glove off in her debut by completing the 10 chances she was given throughout both games. Another freshman who had a promising start to the season is catcher
Morgan Cline, who had the only two RBI against Carson-Newman in the doubleheader. Cline ended the day hitting .500 with two RBI and two doubles while slugging .833.
IN THE CIRCLE
A trio of sophomore pitchers for the Mountain Lions including
Caitlyn Bauer,
Nancy-Jo Roberts, and
Rachael Koller saw the field last Wednesday and are looking to bounce back against the Pioneers. Bauer moved into eighth place on Concord's all-time strikeout list during her start against Carson-Newman ending the game with three strikeouts giving her a total of 137 in her Concord career. Roberts, a transfer from Southwest Community College, got the start in game two against Carson-Newman, throwing a complete game in her first career start for the Maroon and Gray. Roberts finished the game giving up four earned runs while striking out two batters. Koller entered the circle for a quick shutout inning only facing four batters on the day and retiring three of those four.
