LONG BALL
Concord hit four home runs during its five-game stretch at the Bearcat-Fleet Invite Friday and Saturday in South Carolina. The Mountain Lions got home runs from freshman infielder Lacie Lewis, senior catcher/first baseman Jolie Privett, graduate catcher/outfielder Mikayah Pulliam and graduate infielder Sarah Thompson. For Thompson, it was her ninth career home run which is one away from joining the top 10 in program history. Privett hit her second home run in the last 12 games going back to last season versus West Virginia Wesleyan. And Lewis notched her first career home run with a solo shot versus nationally-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne. CU is nearly half way to it home run mark from last season when it had 13, led by three each from Thompson and sophomore first baseman Kassidy Garvey.

YOUNG GUNS
The top three hitters for the Mountain Lions in terms of average nine games into the season are either freshmen or sophomores. Freshman first baseman/catcher Morgan Cline has three multi-hit games in the eight games she has appeared in and leads CU with a .421 average. Lewis had hit safely in all six games before being held without a hit against Lander to close the weekend. However, the Kearneysville, West Virginia native is still batting .375. And sophomore infielder Kylee Stacy tied her career high with three hits versus USC Beaufort, and in the process brought her average up to .364 after the weekend.

OLD FRIENDLY RIVALRY
Concord and UVa.-Wise, two old Mountain East Conference rivals, meet for the 31st and 32nd times Wednesday afternoon with UVa.-Wise holding a slight 18-12 edge in the all-time series. The only current Mountain Lion to square off with the Cavaliers is Thompson who played UVa.-Wise five times during her freshman season in 2019. UVa.-Wise won three of the four regular season meetings before CU eliminated the Cavaliers from the MEC Tournament with a 3-2 win. In 2019 at the CU Softball Field, the teams played a 12-inning contest that was won by the Cavaliers 8-5. Eight of the last 13 games between the two sides have been decided by three runs or less dating back to the 2017 season.
