SALEM, Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team wrapped up two-day competition at the Bast Cregger Invite hosted by Roanoke College Saturday afternoon.
The top performance for the Mountain Lions came in the form of a win by freshman
Izzy Williams in the 300-meter dash as she sported a time of 42.24 seconds. The Statesville, North Carolina native has already won three events through two meets in her career.
Freshman
Marin Parker ran 45.95 seconds in the 300-meters to place sixth.
Williams (third/26.23 seconds) and Parker (14
th/28.25 seconds) also had stellar showings in the 200-meter dash.
Sophomore
Emma Jenkins led a trio of athletes to top-15 showings in the 800-meter dash. She stopped the timer at 2:32.97 to finish fourth. Freshman
Hayley Collins clocked 2:47.82 to finish 11
th, and junior
Kaylee Dixon finished 14
th in a time of 2:59.03.
Freshman
Nadiyah Abdussalaam had a busy weekend. She jumped 10.12 meters in the triple jump to place seventh. Her mark of 4.10 meters in the long jump was good enough for 14
th. And she scored 1,937 points in the indoor pentathlon to place 12
th.
Abdussalaam, Jenkins, Parker and Williams combined to run 4:36.51 in the 4x400-meter relay to finish ninth.
Freshman
Sara Turner placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run in a showing of 12:38.44. And in other distance action, sophomore
Colette Lindley placed 10
th in the mile at 6:16.05.
Graduate student
Emily Wallace competed at Grand Valley State Friday evening where she clocked 18:34.58 in the 5,000-meter run.
Concord resumes its indoor campaign January 12 when it travels to the The Burg Open hosted by Liberty.
