SZEKESFEHERVAR, Hungary – Quarterback
Jack Mangel of the Concord University football team has signed a professional contract with the Fehérvár Enthroners of the European League of Football, the club has announced.
Mangel, the record-setting quarterback for the Mountain Lions, finished his career with 81 career touchdowns and 9,349 yards over 33 career starters. He racked up 790 completions in 1,293 attempts. Mangel concluded his career either first or second in program history in all major passing categories.
He was All-Mountain East Conference First Team in 2022 and was later selected all-region and All-American last year.
This past fall, Mangel completed just under 58 percent of his passes as he threw for 2,526 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The ELF is a 17-team league with teams in eight countries. The season begins in early June each year with the championship game being played in mid-September. This past season, Fehérvár finished with a record of 3-9 in the Eastern Conference of the ELF that includes the Berlin Thunder, Panthers Wroclaw, the Prague Lions and the Vienna Vikings.
The Enthroners have been an American Football Franchise since 2007, winning the Hungarian Championship in 2019 and 2022. 2023 was the first year for Fehérvár in the ELF. Previously, the Enthroners were in the Central European Football League.
Former Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans was the Enthroners' signal caller during the 2022 season. The only other listed quarterback on Fehérvár's current roster is Hungarian native Máté Hegedüs.
