BEEN HERE BEFORE
The Mountain Lions play in their sixth NCAA Tournament game since 2019 when they take the pitch Friday evening. CU lost in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament, but made the national quarterfinals in 2021. However, this year's appearance is the first time Concord is an at-large team into the field having won the 2019 and 2021 Mountain East Conference Championship. Counting the conference postseason, graduate defender
Olivia Bekeleski suits up in 11
th postseason game Friday. Junior midfielder
Leah Fleming plays in her ninth postseason game against Kutztown, and for junior midfielder
Anna Davis it will be her eighth. Since arriving at CU in 2016, head coach
Luke Duffy is 11-7-1 in postseason games—games that end in penalty kicks are official ties on the win-loss record.
STEPPING UP
Ahead of the NCAA Tournament, Concord's leading goal scorer on the year is junior forward
Sydney Tucker who has netted 11 goals. The Raleigh, North Carolina native entered the year having played in just three career games and had not tallied a point in the Maroon and Gray. Tucker has yet to start a game this season. Junior forward
Nora Voisey has come to the forefront in the assist category for CU as she has notched eight assists. The Clarksville, Ohio native had just one assist in her career which came during her freshman season of 2021. Concord starts the NCAA Tournament ranked eighth nationally in goals (60) and 14
th in assists (41).
BEST OF THE BEST
The Mountain Lions have never defeated Kutztown in four tries with the latest coming in the second game of the season in 2023. KU picked up a 2-1 win over Concord on September 2. The Bears did not lose a game until the PSAC Semifinals and enter the NCAA Tournament ranked 12
th in the nation. CU has had success with its potent offense while Kutztown has used a suffocating defense this season. KU has allowed just nine goals this fall, tied for fifth fewest in Division II. Friday's game will be the second-seeded Bears versus the seventh-seeded Mountain Lions in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament. Freshman midfielder
Katie Garratt pushed CU ahead 1-0 in the 50
th minute of the game in September before Lexy Endres scored in the 61
st and 81
