HANGING TOUGH
The Mountain Lions fell to nationally-ranked Charleston 3-0 in their most recent game on Wednesday at home. A year after losing to Charleston at home, 7-0, the Maroon and Gray trailed only 1-0 at halftime versus UC. Freshman midfielder Joel Walker had two shots in the contest. Freshman midfielder Tommy Smith made eight saves after recording seven saves in a shutout of Alderson Broaddus Sunday. Smith is the reigning MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

PULLING AWAY
 One of the two road wins for Concord last season came at Wheeling as it split the season series the Cardinals. The Mountain Lions were doubled in up shots, 24-12, but only had two less (9-7) shots on goal than Wheeling in a 3-1 win. It snapped a streak of five consecutive games in the all-time series being decided by one goal. CU was up 1-0 into the 83rd minute before scoring twice in the final six minutes. Senior midfielder Tomas Fanello had a shot in the contest while sophomore defender Esteban Correa and junior defender Ezequiel Villareal each had a shot on goal.

LOOKING FOR HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE
The road team has won the last three matchups between Concord and Wheeling. The Cardinals edged the Maroon and Gray 2-1 in overtime last season at home. CU went up 1-0 on Wheeling in the 42nd minute on a set piece goal by senior defender Tristan Bragg. Junior midfielder Ricardo Chinea-Pegler had two shots on goal in the contest. WU had the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Diego Buenano has scored four goals and assisted on two more for the Cardinals. Wheeling has been outscored 27-15 this season. WU has used three different goalies this season with the Carlos Molina getting the most time in net—450 minutes. Molina has made 23 saves and has been the winning goalie twice. The Cardinals are in the middle of a three-game road trip. Davis & Elkins fell to nationally-ranked Davis & Elkins 9-1 Wednesday and concludes the road swing at Charleston October 5.
