WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team placed sixth at the West Liberty Invite that wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at Oglebay Resort.

Concord scored rounds of 302, 286 and 292 to finish with a team score of 880. CU bested California (Pa.) by one stroke for sixth place. The middle round of the tournament was a season-low team score for Concord.

The Mountain Lions were led by senior Noah Clark who carded rounds of 72, 66 and 71 (209) to finish in a tie for eighth. Clark's 66 from the second round is believed to be tied for the single-round program record that was set in 2011 by Andres Reideborn and in 2014 by Evan Muscari. Clark sank six birdes in the middle round, including three straight on holes 13-15 with two of those being par 3s. Clark also carded two eagles on Tuesday with a three on the par-5, 500-yard second and a two on the par-4, 320-yard 10th. Clark played the 5s at -6 and was even on the par 4s for the tournament.

Junior Carson Proffitt tied for 27th at 219 as he had two rounds of 72 with a round of 75 sandwiched between. The Camp Creek, West Virginia native drained three birdies in the first round, added two more birdies in the second round and finished with four birdies Tuesday. Like Clark, Proffitt eagled the par-5, second with a three in the second round.

Fifth-year senior Brett Laxton was in a tie for 37th with a total of 224 (78, 72, 74). Laxton was +3 for the front nine of the course over the three rounds. Six of his eight birdies were on holes 1-9. After an 84 to open up the tournament, sophomore Grant Rosenbaum came on strong with rounds of 73 and 75 to conclude play. Rosenbaum tied for 58th (232) as he was particularly strong on the front side in the final two rounds with six birdies in total.

Freshman Grayson Murray had rounds of 80, 77, 80. Highlighted in his 77 from the second round was back-to-back birdies to start the back nine. Junior Michael Growe Jr. scored 89, 82 and 89 playing as an individual.

Paced by a score of -15 for the tournament from Oliver Mast, Indianapolis won the team title by 13 strokes. Mast was four strokes clear for medalist honors.

The Mountain Lions wrap up the regular season April 25-26 at the Golden Bear Classic at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.
