Concord Ties for Sixth at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team tied for sixth with Mercyhurst at the Charleston Invite that wrapped Tuesday afternoon at Berry Hills Country Club.

Concord shot a team round 300 Monday before returning to the course to fire off a 304 in Tuesday's second round.

Senior Noah Clark opened the tournament with a +1, 71. Clark scored 79 on Tuesday as his two-day total of 150 was tied for 27th.

Both fifth-year senior Brett Laxton and sophomore Grant Rosenbaum was one stroke off Clark's pace as they finished tied for 33rd. For Laxton, he shot rounds of 75 and 76. Rosenbaum was five shots better on Tuesday after his opening round of 78. The 73 carded by the Wytheville, Virginia native was his second-lowest career score.

Junior Carson Proffitt recorded rounds of 76 and 77 as his two-day score of 153 was tied for 44th. Freshman Grayson Murray fired a 74 on Monday before an 81 on Tuesday.

Junior Colin Wiley had scores of 82 and 78.

Charleston won the team title with a score of combined total of 571. UC's David Scragg led the charge as he shot rounds of 70 and 68 to win by a stroke.

Concord is back on the course Monday when it travels to the Dr. Wally Edgell D2 Classic at Canaan Resort in Davis, West Virginia.
