RADFORD, Va. – Concord University head softball coach
Alisa Tasler has accepted the same position at Radford University, the school's athletic department announced Tuesday morning.
Tasler departs Concord with a record of 247-228-1 in 10 seasons in Athens. Tasler collected five 30-win seasons, including from 2014-17. She also led the Mountain Lions to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015 and again made the national postseason in 2019. In 2015, CU knocked off West Chester in the NCAA Tournament for the program's first NCAA Tournament victory.
Tasler oversaw a program-record 38 wins in 2019 as Concord came within a game of winning the Mountain East Conference Championship, claiming four wins in one day to make the tournament final.
"I would like to thank Concord Athletic Director
Kevin Garrett for taking a chance on me all those years ago," Tasler began. "I would also like to thank Concord Associate Athletic Director
Kenny Osborne for being a great mentor to myself and all the other coaches that have passed through Concord.
"I also want to thank all of the young women that came through this program and worked so hard to make Concord softball what it is today. I'm sure the next coach will put their stamp on the program and make it even better."
Over her 10 seasons, the CU softball program had 18 players that were selected to all-conference teams. The six all-region players that Concord softball has had in program history were all coached by Tasler beginning with Lauren Lewis in 2014 and ending most recently with
Laura Thompson and
Jenna Witt in 2021. Witt and catcher Alyssa Morris became the program's first two All-Americans on Tasler's watch with Morris garnering the honor in 2015 and Witt's accolade coming three years later.
When she first arrived at Concord, the softball program was three years removed from going 1-32. Tasler posted back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2012 and 2013 before a 31-win campaign in 2014.
Radford will be Tasler's third head coaching job as she coached at Neosho County Community College in Kansas before landing in Athens prior to the 2012 season.
Tasler inherits a Radford softball program that went 22-32 in 2021, but posted an 11-10 record in Big South Conference play. Additionally, the Highlanders were 13-3 in 2020 before the cancellation of the season.
