ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team has placed two players on the NOVA Baseball Magazine Summer Collegiate All-Star Team.
Senior infielder
Evan Antonellis and junior outfielder
Richard Ortiz both played for the West Virginia Miners of the Prospect League this summer. Ortiz made the all-star team as a designated while Antonellis was a reserve infielder.
Antonellis is a native of Dumfries, Virginia while Ortiz hails from Woodbridge, Virginia.
Despite arriving late to the summer circuit, Oritz finished third on the Miners in home runs with five to go with a batting average of .300 and 26 RBI as he played in just 22 games. Half of Ortiz's hits went for extra-bases as he added seven doubles to his cumulative hits of 24.
Also a late addition to the roster, Antonellis finished one home run ahead of Ortiz as he clubbed six long balls this summer. Antonellis batted .308 in 19 games to go with 15 RBI.
Established in February 2015, NOVA Baseball Magazine has quickly grown to become "Your Source for Baseball News in Northern Virginia". The magazine covers youth, travel, high school, collegiate and professional baseball in the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania and Stafford and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Manassas and Manassas Park.
