ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's track & field teams travel to the Golden Eagle Invite hosted by the University of Charleston Saturday at Laidley Field.

The Concord women's team came away with three event wins at the Jasmine Claggett Memorial Invite hosted at West Virginia Wesleyan. The 4x400-meter relay team of senior

Jerell Strachan and senior
Kiersten Shrader picked up a win by running 4:12.47 which is the third-fastest time in the Mountain East Conference this season. Sophomore
Hannah Altizer ran 5:01.66 to win the 1,500-meter run while fellow sophomore
Emily Wallace did the same in the 800-meter run with a showing of 2:24.76, a conference-leading time. Shrader was top six in the 200-meter dash (fourth/27.12 seconds), 100-meter dash (sixth/13.22 seconds) and long jump (sixth/5.08 meters).
On the men's side, senior
Jason Weitzel ran a school-record time in the 5,000-meter run at the Flames Invite in Cleveland, Tennessee as he clocked 14:12. Weitzel's time is ranked 14
th in Division II. Sophomore
Issac Prather also went under the previous school record as he clocked 14:19 as the Summersville, West Virginia native sits 25
th nationally. At WVWC, senior
Samuel Haynes won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:59.24. Senior
Andrew Barbera was the runner-up in 10:40.88 while freshman
Caleb Hatcher came through in 10:54.13 to finish third. Junior
Cedric Drennen was the runner-up in the 1,500-meters at 4:04.83. Freshman
Darius Smith was fifth in the 100-meter dash as he stopped the timer at 11.24 seconds.
GOLDEN EAGLE ENTRIES
Ja. Strachan will be in the 800-meters along with senior
Lindsey Cummings, Golinsky and juniors
Briana Parsons and
Brittany Vaught. Jer. Strachan looks to improve on her conference-leading 400-meters time of 58.72 seconds as she lines up in the event with freshmen
Ryann Davis,
Alaina Mills and
Taylor Perry. After consecutive weeks of jumping 10.10 meters in the triple jump, Thompson will be the triple jump along with the high jump and long jump. Davis and Shrader also are entered in the long jump while freshman
Jenna Cooper is in the high jump with Thompson.
Weitzel will chase another one of his program records when he and Prather toe the line in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Weitzel's current record in the event is 9:05.21. Both are entered below the current program mark. Eight different Mountain Lions are entered in the 5,000-meters. Drennen and Haynes headline the group with entry times of 14:45 and 14:50, respectively. Also entered in the 5,000-meters is sophomore

Preston Prather (15:20), senior
Raheem Williams (15:50), Barbera (15:59), sophomore
John Casey (16:20) and Hatcher (16:20). CU will have five athletes in the 200-meters as freshman
