RECORDS
CU starts the week with a mark of 8-16 overall and 3-11 versus MEC foes. Concord needs to win both matches this week to remain in contention to make the MEC Tournament.

Charleston is 19-9 this season and sports a conference record of 9-5.

REJECTIONS
The Mountain Lions posted 11 blocks in a three-set victory at Winston-Salem State Saturday as it marked the third time in the last seven matches CU has had double digit blocks. Senior middle hitter Sheridan Herron led the way with four total blocks while junior outside hitter Hailey Buchanan set a career high with three blocks. Junior middle hitter Amber Hall and freshman outside hitter Hannah Steele also had three blocks at WSSU. Herron is closing on the top 10 in program history in blocks as she has 242 in his career. Tenth place on the career list is 248 by Emily Ellis (2016-17). Concord's 11 blocks helped the Maroon and Gray hold Winston-Salem State to a hitting percentage of -.020 on the day.

GETTING COMFORTABLE
The Mountain Lions played a total of nine sets at the Wehrle Center on Charleston's campus during the spring season as CU played a doubleheader with the Golden Eagles. Concord forced UC to five sets in the second match after going four sets in the opening contest. Hall and Herron combined for 29 of CU's 43 kills in the first match. The second match saw Hall post a then-career high 19 kills while hitting .486. Hall is coming off a match at Winston-Salem State in which she tabulated 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .611. Senior defensive specialist Kelli Ellison threw in a then career-best 22 digs in the nightcap at Charleston.

YOUNG GUNS
Concord's Steele and Charleston's Sage Bearnson lead their respective teams in kills per set. Matter of fact, Steele leads all MEC freshmen in kills per set as she is averaging 3.6 kills per set. The Pearisburg, Virginia native ranks fourth in the MEC while Bearnson, a sophomore, is fifth in kills per set (3.34). Steele has posted at least 10 kills in 19 of 24 matches this season, including 11 against Charleston earlier this year at the Carter Center. Bearnson tied for the team lead in kills at CU with seven. Overall, Bearnson has 10 or more kills in 21 of 28 matches.

CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
The Golden Eagles have won four straight matches and six of eight ahead of Tuesday night's contest. Maria Hernandez is second in the MEC in assists per set (9.99) while Ally Fisher is ninth in the MEC in blocks per (0.78). Five different players average at least two kills per set for Charleston. After Bearnson, McKenzie Damon pitches in 2.23 kills per set. UC is one of four teams in the conference that hit at least .200 for the season—a group that also includes Fairmont State, West Virginia State and Wheeling.
