Concord Finishes Fourth at MEC Championship, Proffitt In Top Five

WARREN, Ohio – The Concord University men's golf team wrapped up the Mountain East Conference Championship with a fourth-place finish Wednesday afternoon at Avalon Lakes Golf & Country Club.

With rounds of 314 and 309 earlier in the week, the Mountain Lions shot 316 Wednesday to finish with a cumulative score of 939.

Junior Carson Proffitt notched a top-five finish after a final round 75 and a score of 228. The Camp Creek, West Virginia native came up with three birdies Wednesday as he birdied the par-5, 567 yard 11th on his second hole of the day. Proffitt's second birdie was another par-5, the 535-yard 14th which he scored a four on for the second this week. His final red number came on the par-4, 360-yard fifth.

By finishing in the top five, Proffitt was named to the All-MEC Tournament Team.

Senior Noah Clark moved into the top 15 on the final day as he finished in a four-way tie for 15th after a final round 78, and a score of 235 overall. Clark concluded the tournament on a high note with a three on the par-4, 395-yard ninth hole.

Fifth-year senior Brett Laxton was two shots off Clark's score with a final tally of 237. Laxton carded an 80 Wednesday that included a birdie on the same hole that Proffitt racked his final birdie on—the fifth. Laxton tied for 19th.

Freshman Grayson Murray finished at 239 as he tied for 22nd after a final round 83. Sophomore Grant Rosenbaum placed 30th at 248.

Charleston's Mitch Hoffman was the individual medalist as he finished at 223, two strokes ahead of his teammate, Erik Ulvang. Paced by the UC duo, the Golden Eagles finished 13 strokes better than West Liberty (907-920) for the team title. Davis & Elkins was five strokes ahead of CU for third.
