ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team travels to Fairmont State 7:00 p.m. Tuesday before two home games against Salem 7:00 p.m. Thursday and versus Frostburg State 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Carter Center.

RECORDS
The Mountain Lions begin the week with a mark of 4-11 overall and 1-6 versus MEC foes.
Fairmont State is out to a 15-6 start and is 5-2 versus league teams.
Salem sports a record of 3-17.
Frostburg State is 4-15 and has a mark of 1-6 in the MEC.
MIDDLE MARK
Junior middle hitter
Amber Hall and senior middle hitter
Sheridan Herron have been quite impressive in the middle of the CU lineup over the few contests. Hall has racked up 24 kills in the last three matches while committing just three errors in 50 swings. The Massillon, Ohio native has hit .420 in her last three, including a mark of .706 versus West Liberty (12 kills in 17 attempts without an error). Meanwhile, Herron has 35 kills in her last five matches and has committed four errors. Overall, she is hitting .467 in that span. Herron has also chipped in 17 total blocks for the Concord defense. In 2019 at Fairmont State, Herron contributed four total blocks.
GOING THE DISTANCE
The only meeting between Concord and Frostburg State in volleyball turned into a five-set marathon in October 2019. The Mountain Lions came up just shy of setting the program record for single-match digs with 111 digs—the record is 117 done two times. Senior setter
Imani Rodgers had a double-double of 17 assists and 14 digs. Junior outside hitter
Hailey Buchanan had 12 digs to assist the defensive effort. Concord limited the Bobcats to .125 hitting.
SWING FOR SWING
Though the Mountain Lions fell in four sets to West Liberty in four sets Saturday, CU hit .254 in the match which was the fourth highest hitting percentage on the season for Concord. The effort was paced by Hall and Herron, but sophomore middle hitter
Csayjah Whitelow hit .273 in the contest. Concord ranks fourth in the MEC in hitting percentage this season (.197), but right ahead is Fairmont State in third (.223). The last trip into Fairmont State resulted in CU only hitting .084.
TAMING THE TIGERS
Concord is 20-3 in the all-time series versus Salem, including a four-set win earlier this season on the road. Freshman outside hitter
Hannah Steele recorded one of her three double-doubles on the year with 17 kills and 14 digs. Rodgers dished out 30 assists to go along with four service aces. Senior defensive specialist
Kelli Ellison notched a career-best 33 digs in the victory. CU also held Salem to a hitting percentage of .061, the lowest for any opponent this season.
OPPONENTS AT A GLANCE
Former Notre Dame head coach and West Liberty assistant coach Travis Hinkle is in his first year as the head coach of Fairmont State. Julia DiPaola is sixth in the MEC with 3.06 kills per set while Emma Ludwig is one of the top blockers in the MEC at 0.90 blocks per set, good enough for fourth. Fairmont State is 8-1 at home, and overall has won six of its last seven matches. The Fighting Falcons were pushed to five sets in a road win at Frostburg State over the weekend.
Salem's only road win this season came on September 14 at Glenville State as the Tigers won in five sets. Elise Burks had a double-double of 10 assists and 14 digs in the first meeting with Concord. Nakyia Middleton had six kills and hit .278 versus CU.
Four of the last 11 matches for Frostburg State have gone to five sets, including the last two against Fairmont State and West Virginia Wesleyan. Beverly Braun is third in the MEC—and just in front of Steele—in kills per set with 3.65. AJ Thompson is averaging just over two kills per set and is hitting .242 in 2021.
