ON WORKING A FEW DIFFERENT JOBS IN ADDITION TO BE A STUDENT-ATHLETE
I came here and got really involved with the campus. I worked at Aramark, helped out with the Upward Bound program, helped out with the Bonner Scholars—got to know a lot of people—helped out at the day care and helped out Chris Smallwood at the fitness center. I got to know a lot of people.

ON BEING COACHED BY MIKE COX
He was the reason why I kept (competing) in track and field—him being a genuine guy and great person. It was one of the reasons that kept me motivated to do both sports. All his pre-race and pre-meet speeches, motivation, all the quotes he would give us before practice those hit home. I would ask him to give me some (quotes) before I ran. I never had coaching like that in track. Coach Cox went from a coach to a best friend to a guy I could talk to when I needed somebody.
