Inside the Numbers Series: 2019-20 Women's Indoor Track and Field

ATHENS, W.Va. – Over the next few weeks, the Concord University Sports Information Department will highlight some prominent numbers that defined each sport's season.

The series will work backwards from the spring sports to the winter teams to the fall sports.

The latest numbers highlight the success of the women's track and field team during the indoor season as the team was limited to one outdoor meeting. The team finished eighth at the first-ever Mountain East Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Here's some numbers to highlight the season.

1-Freshman Gretchen Mills was the first ever recipient of the MEC Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year.

3- The 4x400-meter relay team of senior Heather Chernutan, junior Josea Smith, sophomore Jada Strachan and redshirt freshman Jerell Strachan placed third and earned All-MEC Honorable Mention It was also the third all-conference award in the career of Chernutan.

26.80- 200-meter dash all-time best by Chernutan at the VMI Winter Relay in February.

1:00.41- Je. Strachan's personal-best time in the 400-meter dash at the MEC Championships.

2:26.32- The first time junior Kate Golinsky ran under 2:30 for the 800-meter run during an indoor season. Golinsky clocked the time at the MEC Championships.

2:31.77- All-time best 800-meters from junior Lindsey Cummings at the MEC Championships.

18:24- During the regular season, Mills clocked the second-fastest 5,000-meter time by running the time at the VMI Winter Relays.

19:00- Time ran by sophomore Hannah Altizer at the MEC Championships. Altizer took a year off from competitive running before joining the Mountain Lions in January.

5.12 meters- Career-best long jump by junior Kiersten Shrader at the Roanoke Invite in early February.
