SALEM, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team collected 10 goals in a 10-0 shutout win of Salem Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game at Catalano Stadium.
CU (2-0) scored five goals in each half while allowing the Tigers (0-2) to record just two shots in the game to Concord's 44 total shots and 28 shots on goal.
Freshman forward
Rachel Bell and sophomore forward
Leah Foster each had hat tricks in the game. Bell got the scoring started in the 16th minute and finished off her hat trick in the 72nd minute. Foster recorded her second career hat trick while adding two assists in the contest.
Foster had the last goal in the game to complete her hat trick with a score in the 88th minute.
The other goal scorers for the Mountain Lions were junior midfielders
Courtney Wallace and
Mira Kontio as well as senior midfielder
Ali Cook and sophomore forward
Olivia Medieros.
Freshman defender
Zoe Belding added two assists in her collegiate debut.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Leah Marsh earned the win as she did not have to make a save in the game.
Sunday marked the first time Concord has scored 10 goals in a game since defeating Glenville State 12-0 last season on September 23.
The Mountain Lions face Wingate 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on the road.
