ATHENS, W.Va. – Ahead of Saturday's spring football game that will kick off at 12:00 p.m., here's the final position preview of the spring for the Concord University football team—the tight ends.
The depth chart list five tight ends on the roster during spring practice, but only two have seen playing time at the position in the Maroon and Gray. Rising sophomores
Brent Butler and
Dajor Davenport each split time behind now-graduated
Mark Large a season ago. Butler caught one pass for 42 yards against West Liberty last season while Davenport played in five games.
After being recruited as a tight end and switching to the defensive line last season, rising sophomore
Jon Sawyers returns to tight end for spring practice. While Sawyers hasn't played tight end at CU, the Shady Spring, West Virginia native has suited up along the defensive line.
Tight ends coach
Mason Dadian welcomes two new faces to the group in redshirt freshman
D.J. McCutcheon who was recruited to Concord as a running back. Former Bluefield College player
Matt Mullins comes to the program as a mid-year transfer from the Rams.
The Maroon versus Gray Spring Game will use a modified version of scoring the offense playing the defense. Saturday will conclude the spring season for the Mountain Lions.
