ATHENS, W.Va. -- The Concord University softball team welcomes West Virginia Wesleyan 1:00 p.m. Saturday for a doubleheader and continues 12:00 p.m. Sunday with two games versus Glenville State at the CU Softball Field.

RECORDS
The Mountain Lions are 13-8 overall and is 3-1 versus Mountain East Conference teams.
West Virginia Wesleyan is 8-10 overall and is off to a 1-3 MEC start.
Glenville State is 6-12 overall with an MEC record of 1-3.

BRING THEM HOME
In the first 21 games of the season, CU has totaled 116 RBI nearing the halfway point of the of the 2019 season while its opponents have totaled just 80 RBI. Concord is well on pace of breaking last year's RBI count of 159. Additionally, the Mountain Lions are on track to reach 250 RBI, which would be the first time reaching at least 250 since 2016. The potent offense has led Concord to a record of 11-2 when scoring at least five runs this season. And the RBI have been evenly distributed with eight players tallying at least 10 RBI so far this season. Freshman utility

ON A ROLL
After a 6-1 loss to West Virginia State Saturday, the Mountain Lions have reeled off five straight wins including a 7-6 comeback win over WVSU, powered by a walk-off home run from senior outfielder
Abby Beatty. During the five-game winning streak, Concord has outscored its opponents by average of 10.6-4.6. Additionally, CU has scored at least nine runs in four of the five games--something it hadn't done over a five-game stretch since March 5-8, 2016.
RECORD PERFORMANCE
In her win over Charleston on Sunday, sophomore pitcher/outfielder
Cartney Schoolcraft struck out 10 batters which was the most for a CU pitcher in a single game since the 2011 season. Schoolcraft started the game by striking out six of the first nine batters she faced. Her 42 strikeouts rank sixth in the MEC this season, and over her last 20 innings of work the Winfield, West Virginia native is averaging a strikeout per inning.

Heading into play on Sunday, S. Thompson and freshman pitcher/outfielder
Laura Thompson are both batting above .400. Sarah is fifth in the conference with a .441 average while Laura sits seventh at .431. Concord is one of four teams in the MEC with at least two players hitting above .400 with the others being Shepherd, West Liberty, and West Virginia State. If the Thompson sisters continue to hold averages above .400, they will be the first set of teammates at CU with a batting average of more than .400 since 2011. The Thompsons are also ranked first and second for number of runs scored in the MEC as Laura has scored 24 times and Sarah has crossed home 16 times.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
After going 1-3 to start the conferenece season, Wesleyan bounced back with a doubleheader sweep of Salem. Kennedy Cowart leads the Bobcats with a .385 batting average, but only has four RBI this season. Meanwhile, Kiley Turner has hit four home runs and brought in 15 runs. In 57.1 innings, Hannah Hudson has 47 strikeouts and a 2.93 ERA as she has gone 4-3 in the circle.Â
GLENVILLE STATE AT A GLANCE
Though Glenville State is hitting just .222 this season as a team, Karra Smith is eighth in the MEC in batting average at .426. Smith has also hit five home runs--fourth in the MEC--and is adding 13 RBI. In 10 appearances this season, Tori Ward has gone 2-2 in the circle with a 4.60 ERA.
