RECORDS
The Mountain Lions allowed 28 second-half points against UVa.-Wise as they fell 35-20 and moved their record to 1-2 on the season.

NDC enters Saturday game receiving votes in the American Football Coaches' Association Division II Top 25 poll. The Falcons are 29th nationally and 3-0 in 2018.

CAUTION: EXPLOSIVES
In the defeat versus UVa.-Wise, CU had two plays that could be classified as big or explosive plays--which is any rush over 10 yards or any pass over 25 yards.

Junior quarterback Kyle Akin scampered 49 yards in the second quarter.

Later in the game, Akin connected with sophomore wide receiver Tywan Pearce for a 54-yard touchdown.

This season, Concord has six explosive plays. The Mountain Lions are well ahead of last year's total of 19 explosive plays in 11 games.

Even though Akin threw a touchdown pass of 65 yards to freshman running back Kris Copeland in the season opener at West Virginia Wesleyan, Saturday's 54-yard hook up was the longest pass play for Concord that wasn't a screen since the season finale in 2015 when Brian Novak threw a 62-yard strike to Jermeil Douse versus West Virginia State.

Furthermore, Akin was the Mountain Lions' leading rusher at UVa.-Wise as he racked up 56 yards on the ground.

It was the most rushing yards for a Concord quarterback since converted running back Ben Nester ran for 159 yards from a read-option offense versus West Virginia Wesleyan in 2013.

CLIMBING THE LADDER
Senior linebacker Zach Malone was a defensive standout for CU against the Cavaliers in week three of the season.

The Charleston, West Virginia native racked up a season-high 14 tackles versus UVa.-Wise, which was also the third highest of his career.

The performance carried Malone by Joe Greenway for eighth on the all-time tackles list at Concord with 265 stops.

Next on the list is, Rob Sabatini who had 281 career tackles. Malone ranks third in the MEC in tackles with 35 this season.

In the defensive backfield, senior defensive back Chaudlier Shepherd broke up his first pass of the season which was also the 23rd of his career, moving the Upper Marlboro, Maryland native into sixth place on the all-time list at CU.

DYNAMIC DUO
With Pearce snaring his second touchdown grab of the season, and junior wide receiver Brandon Plyler hauling in a scoring reception in the second quarter, the tandem is the seventh set of teammates in the conference this season to have at least two touchdowns in 2018.

FUMBLE MANIA
Against UVa.-Wise, the Mountain Lions forced and recovered five fumbles as it held a +3 turnover margin in the defeat.

Sophomore defensive back Bryant Grubb forced and recovered his first career fumble which was also his first career takeaway.

Junior defensive back Ke'Shawn Hall jumped on a fumble just outside the CU goal line to prevent a UVa.-Wise score.

Senior linebacker Andrew Jakubowsky also had a fumble recovery. The other two fumbles were credited to Concord as a team.

The five fumble recoveries for the Mountain Lions are the most in a game this season in all of Division II.

And the five forced fumbles are the second most behind the six that regional foe Edinboro forced against Lake Erie in its season opener.

AERIAL ATTACK
Sophomore quarterback Adam Fulton had his best day punting at UVa.-Wise since taking over the job at the beginning of the season.

Fulton was called upon seven times versus the Cavaliers.

The Knoxville, Tennessee native struck two punts over 50 yards while also landing two punts inside the 20-yard line at UVa.-Wise.

Fulton's 58-yard punt was the longest blast for the Mountain Lions since a 61-yard punt by All-American Garrett Lee at home against Shepherd on September 30 of last season.

Additionally, Fulton averaged 43.6 yards per punt against the Cavaliers which was the best average since Lee's 51.4 mark also against Shepherd last season.

RUN DEFENSE
After limiting West Virginia Wesleyan to 98 yards rushing in its season-opening win, Concord has allowed over 200 yards rushing to both Charleston and UVa.-Wise in consecutive weeks.

The Mountain Lions will have another tall task on Saturday as Notre Dame possesses the best rusher in the league, Jaleel McLaughlin.

The freshman is averaging nearly 160 yards per game on the ground.

Additionally, McLaughlin was the MEC Offensive Player of the Week during the first two weeks of the season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
4- Points that decided the last meeting between Concord and Notre Dame in Athens. The Falcons scored late in the fourth quarter to earn a 14-10 win.

6- Number of defensive players for Concord that either set or tied their career high in tackles versus UVa.-Wise, including junior defensive back Jakil Sarhim with nine.

43- Number of passes completed by Akin in the last two games, the most for a CU signal caller since the 2013 season.

NOTRE DAME AT A GLANCE
Led by McLaughlin, the Falcons have the second-best rushing offense (227.7 yards per game) in the MEC behind Charleston.

Notre Dame also has the league's best run defense, allowing just 85 yards per contest.

In his first year starting at quarterback, Chris Brimm has completed over 60 percent of his passes and has yet to throw an interception while recording seven touchdowns.

Guam Lee has done a little bit of everything defensively for NDC.

Lee has 24 tackles, three tackles for loss and three interceptions through three games.

Speaking of turnovers, the Falcons lead the MEC with a turnover margin of +6.
