INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team dropped a 90-68 decision to West Virginia State Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference action at the Walker Convocation Center.
The Yellow Jacks (12-15 MEC, 12-9) led by as much as 11 points in the opening 10 minutes before CU (12-15, 8-13 MEC) made a run to open the second quarter.

Madison May ignited a run that saw Concord outscore West Virginia State 16-7 over the next 6:49 of the contest.
May recorded eight points during the spurt while junior guard
Emily Boothe added two three-pointers as well. After two May foul shots with 3:11 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 34-33, WVSU finished the first half on a 12-0 run to carry a 13-point lead into the break.
The Mountain Lions worked the West Virginia State advantage down to nine points after a jumper from junior guard
Andreanna Pool with 8:03 left in the third, but was unable to get any closer for the remainder of the contest.
May collected her sixth double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds. The Athens, West Virginia native was 8-for-10 at the foul line and also added four blocks in the setback.
Senior guard
Danielle Catron finished with 14 points as she moved into the all-time top 10 scoring list at CU.
Freshman forward
Tamra Scott came off the bench to provide a career-best eight points in 15 minutes. Fellow freshman forward
Riley Fitzwater blocked six shots in the game.
Concord concludes the regular season on Senior Day against UVa.-Wise 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
