RECORDS
The Mountain Lions earned an 85-71 win over the weekend against West Virginia State to move their record to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Glenville State enters the contest with a 6-1 mark and a 3-1 record against the MEC.

NATIONALLY-RANKED
While Glenville State sits just outside the national poll, it's Concord's sophomore forward Riley Fitzwater that is receiving some attention. The Glenville, West Virginia native was voted the MEC Co-Player of the Week for this past week after recording the MEC's sixth all-time triple-double in CU's game at WVSU. Fitzwater notched 10 points, 20 rebounds and 11 blocks. It was also the first triple-double in program history. Entering the contest versus GSC, Fitzwater is ranked first among all Division II players in blocks per game at 5.3. Her 14.8 rebounds per game are second in Division II and her 69.6 field goal percentage is also second in the country. Fitzwater collected her fourth career game of 20 rebounds and her second this season. Meanwhile, her 11 blocks were a career-best.

SECOND-HALF SURGE
Junior forward Madison May scored a career-high 32 points in Concord's win over the weekend. Senior guard Emily Boothe went for a season-best 18 points. The duo was especially impressive late in the game as they combined for 23 of CU's 24 fourth-quarter points. For May, she knocked in 20 of her 32 points after halftime as she went 8-for-9 from the foul line and 6-for-7 from the field in the second half. Boothe filled up the scoring column in the fourth quarter as she netted 13 of her 18 points in the final 10 minutes of the game. Boothe hit on 5-of-6 shots in the fourth quarter. As a team, the Mountain Lions went 9-for-18 from the floor in the fourth quarter.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
To go along with her 32 points, May pulled down a season-best 14 rebounds to register her eighth career double-double. Additionally, it was the third time that Fitzwater and May had at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in the same game in their careers. The other two instances came last season at home against WVSU and at Bluefield State. By themselves, Fitzwater and May had as many rebounds (34) as West Virginia State did as a team. The 54-34 rebounding margin Concord had against the Yellow Jackets was the largest of the season. It also bumped CU's margin up to +6.7, best in the MEC.

HAND OUTS
At West Virginia State, the Mountain Lions had 25 assists on 32 made baskets. It tied for the third-most assists by an MEC team this season, trailing only Glenville State's 29 versus Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty's 26 against Winston-Salem State. The 25 assists also represented the most for CU since dishing out 25 at West Virginia Wesleyan last December in an 88-68 win. Senior guard Andreanna Pool had eight assists—her fifth game of the season with at least five assists. Boothe added five assists while Fitzwater and May combined for eight assists. Pool ranks third in the MEC in assists per game (5.2). May sits 10th in assists per game (3.7) while Boothe is 13th (3.2). Concord is the only team in the MEC with three players in the top 15 in assists.

HEATING UP
In three of their last four games, the Mountain Lions have shot 47 percent or better from the field to climb their field goal percentage to 44.5 percent for the season, fourth best in the league. May shot a season-best 68.8 percent (11-for-16) from the field against West Virginia State. Boothe knocked down 70 percent of her shots (7-of-10), her best shooting game since last season at Wheeling Jesuit. Meanwhile, Glenville State allows opponents to shoot 47.9 percent this season, last in the conference. However, the Pioneers make up for it by forcing 25.7 turnovers per game, seventh in all of Division II. Additionally, GSC is averaging 30.1 points per game off of turnovers this season. Despite having 16.6 turnovers per game, Concord is tied for fourth in the MEC in fewest turnovers.
