PIPESTEM, W.Va. – The Concord University women's cross country team won its first meet of the season as it took a first-place victory at the Concord Alumni Meet Friday afternoon at Pipestem State Park.
The Mountain Lions scored 31 points to best second-place Charleston who had 48 points.
Senior
Bailey Knowles led the way for CU as she finished third with a time of 20:39 on the 5,000-meter course. Concord packed all of its scoring runners in the top 10. Seniors
Kaylin Kessinger (21:41) and
Kenna Knowles (22:03) were fifth and sixth at the meet. Junior
Aidan Payton was eighth with a time of 22:14 while senior
Taylor Hamm placed ninth in 22:16 to round out the top five for Concord.
Senior
Megan Stemple crossed the finish in 13
th place with a time of 23:56. Sophomore Lindsay Cummings ran to a 17
th-place showing, stopping the clock at 24:31. Freshmen Breanna Parsons (22
nd / 25:22) and
Brittany Vaught (23
rd / 25:27). Senior
Catrina Russell clocked a time of 29:19 to finish 27
th.
CU competes at the Pre-Nationals Meet October 20 hosted by Slippery Rock in Pittsburgh.
