RECORDS
Concord enters the matchup with a record of 1-4, both overall and in the Mountain East Conference.

The Pioneers are also 1-4 this season with a mark of 1-3 versus MEC opponents.

300 CLUB
Senior linebacker Zach Malone racked up 14 tackles at Shepherd to move within 10 tackles of 300 for his career at Concord.

Along the way, Malone also passed Rob Sabatini and Ola Adams for sixth and seventh on the all-time tackles list at CU.

Malone now has 290 career stops, and would become the sixth player in program history to reach 300 career tackles.

The last player to reach 300 tackles was Jake Lilly during the 2013 season.

Furthermore, the Charleston, West Virginia native would become the fifth active Division II player to amass 300 tackles in a career.

Malone has registered 24 tackles in his last two games versus Glenville State.

SWISS ARMY KNIFE
Sophomore wide receiver Tywan Pearce caught four passes for a career-high 92 yards while scoring his third receiving touchdown of the season on a 63-yard reception at Shepherd.

The 63-yard pitch-and-catch with junior quarterback Kyle Akin was the longest reception of Pearce's career.

Earlier in the contest versus Shepherd, Pearce also took a reverse 20 yards to the end zone for his first career rushing touchdown.

In the last two games, Pearce has thrown a touchdown—to junior wide receiver Brandon Plyler—rushed for a scored and caught a touchdown pass.

Additionally, Pearce is fourth in the MEC in kickoff return average at 20.8 yards per return, and fifth in the league in all-purpose yards per game at 133.2.

RECEIVERS OUT OF THE BACKFIELD
Freshman running back Kris Copeland was CU's second-leading receiver against the Rams as he snagged three passes for 65 yards.

Thus far this season, Copeland has 165 yards receiving which is more than any Concord rusher last season when Jamal Petty tallied 150 receiving yards as a running back.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO SCORE
The Mountain Lions posted 21 points at Shepherd, but it was not three touchdowns and three extra points that got Concord to 21 points. Pearce scored two touchdowns.

Freshman kicker Luke Walls connected on a 33-yard field goal on the final play of the first half—his first field goal since the opening week at West Virginia Wesleyan.

The final four points for CU came off a safety on a bad snap on a Shepherd punt, and a blocked point after try returned for a two-point conversion.

Junior defensive back Ke'Shawn Hall blocked the kick while senior defensive back Chaudlier Shepherd scooped up the loose ball and ran it back for two points.

It was the first time Concord scored off a blocked kick since rejecting a punt in the 2015 season finale versus West Virginia State.

HOMECOMING IN ATHENS
CU has lost two straight games on Homecoming after winning seven consecutive on Homecoming from 2009-2015.

However, the Mountain Lions had a close 14-10 loss to Notre Dame in 2016.

Last season, Concord hosted West Virginia State on Homecoming as it fell 47-29 to the Yellow Jackets.

Sophomore quarterback Adam Fulton completed a pass to seven different receivers on Homecoming 2017, including five passes and a touchdown to Pearce.

Since 2009, Concord is averaging 37.6 points per game on Homecoming.

CU has defeated Glenville State twice on Homecoming in this decade. Concord won a 49-14 decision in 2010 and edged out the Pioneers 14-9 in 2012.

RACKING UP THE TACKLES
Saturday will showcase some of the top tacklers in the MEC.

Glenville State linebacker Dominic Cizauskas leads the conference with 68 tackles through five games.

Malone is second with 60 tackles.

Only West Liberty's Cliff Clark and West Virginia State's Joe Stoneman have 50 or more tackles on the season along with Cizauskas and Malone.

CU's Hall and the Pioneers' defensive back Quintavius Twine are both among the best tacklers within the defensive back group.

Hall and Twine both have 39 tackles this season which is tied for third in the MEC among defensive backs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
2- Receiving touchdowns by Plyler in CU's 48-28 loss at Glenville State last season. It was also the second career multi-touchdown game for the Fort Mill, South Carolina native.

47- Number of rushing yards for Akin at Shepherd—a team high. It was the second time this season Akin has led Concord in rushing.
