Concord Travels to Charleston, Salem International

ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University women's soccer team travels to Charleston 1:00 p.m. Friday to face the Golden Eagles before facing Salem International on the road 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

RECORDS
The Mountain Lions are 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Mountain East Conference.

Charleston lost its season-opener versus nationally-ranked Kutztown, and played to a 1-1 tie with Fairmont State earlier in the week.

Salem International is 1-2 overall.

Mountain Lions Notes
The Mountain Lions recorded their first win of the season on the road against Davis & Elkins Friday night, 3-1

Three CU players recorded their first career goals in the win. Freshman midfielder Yasmin Mosby opened up the scoring followed by a score from fellow freshman midfielder Mira Kontio. Sophomore defender Delaney Crumblish tallied the final goal for the Mountain Lions.

After scoring 10 goals of 18 games last year, Concord has already scored three in two games this year.

Additionally, the three goals at D&E were the most for CU since October 15, 2015 when the Mountain Lions found the back of the net three times versus Wheeling Jesuit.

Concord fell 3-0 to West Virginia Wesleyan to start the Mountain East Conference slate Tuesday night.

Freshman goalkeeper Katie Maher stopped seven shots in the Wesleyan contest and has eight total saves on the season.

Despite losing twice to UC last season, the Mountain Lions and Charleston tangled in a 1-0 game the first time the teams met in 2016.

CU will playing Salem International for the first time since 2014 when the Maroon and Gray came away with an 8-0 win at Anderson Field.

Heading into the non-conference clash Sunday, Concord has won 11 of 13 all-time meetings between the teams.

The only CU player that has faced SIU is senior defender Sarah Akers who entered the game as a substitute in 2014.

CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
Lyndsey Thompson scored the lone goal on the season for the Golden Eagles against Fairmont State. UC was shutout 1-0 versus Kutztown.

Charleston goalkeeper Zoe Zyta has saved 11 of the 13 shots she has faced this season.

SALEM INTERNATIONAL AT A GLANCE
The Tigers lost 5-0 to Midway, but bounced back beating Washington Adventist 2-1.
