RECORDS
CU is 0-2 on the season, both overall and in the league.
Meanwhile, UVa.-Wise has won both of its games this season over Glenville State and West Virginia State.
TACKLING MACHINES
Even though the Mountain Lions fell 27-0 at Charleston, senior defensive back
Dominic Wilson had a career night versus the Golden Eagles.
Wilson piled up 19 tackles for the game. His performance was one of the best in Division II during week two of the season.
Only Sean Dugan of fellow regional school Millersville had more tackles than Wilson last week.
Additionally, only Dugan and Kirby Hora of Augustana State have had more tackles in a single game this season than Wilson's 19 stops Thursday night.
Junior linebacker
Zach Malone continued to rack up the tackles against UC.
The Charleston, West Virginia native tallied 12 tackles in his latest game.
Dating back to last season, it was the second time in four games that a set of Concord teammates had 10 or more tackles in the same game.
Malone and then-senior defensive back
Akil Bordelon had 13 and 10 tackles, respectively at West Virginia State.
Over his last five games, Malone has had at least 10 tackles in four of those contests.
The last CU player to have 10 or more tackles in five straight games was Jake Lilly in 2013.
LETTING IT FLY
Heading into game three of the season, senior punter
Garrett Lee is leading the nation in punting.
Lee is averaging 47.4 yards per boot this season.
And against Charleston, Lee set a career-high by settling six punts inside the UC 20-yard line.
The Pearisburg, Virginia native also had four punts of 50 or more yards for the first since last year on the road at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Lee has launched 17 punts for 805 yards in the first two games of the season.
To put in perspective how far Lee's punts have gone this season. The total distance would add up to nearly two laps around the track at Callaghan Stadium, .45 miles.
RECORD WATCH
Junior defensive lineman
Colton Neal notched his first his first sack of the season against Charleston.
It was Neal's 6.5 career sack as he drew within 1.5 sack of entering the all-time top 10 at Concord for quarterback take downs in a career.
With a forced fumble in the home opener versus West Virginia Wesleyan, senior defensive back
Jeremiah Johnson moved into a tie for fifth in school history in forced fumbles.
Only Jake Lilly, Ervin Moore, Ethan Perry and Ola Adams have more strips in school history than Johnson.
SPECIAL TEAMS ARE SPECIAL
In a 30-19 loss at UVa.-Wise in 2016, the Concord special teams accounted for 13 points.
Senior kicker
Zack Keaton knocked through two field goals versus the Cavaliers, his only multi-field goal game of the season last year.
Meanwhile, senior defensive back
Chaudlier Shepherd ran back an 83-yard punt for a score that propelled CU to a 19-16 lead late in the third quarter.
The score was the last special teams touchdown for the Mountain Lions. Against UVa.-Wise, Shepherd averaged 32.3 yards per kickoff return and 46 yards per punt return with the 83-yard touchdown aiding the effort.
In addition to Lee's brilliance in the punting game, sophomore wide receiver
Camari Murray is ranked ninth in the league in kickoff return average through two games.
Murray is averaging 20 yards per return.
CAREER NIGHT VERSUS THE CAVS
Senior wide receiver
Paul Jones and junior defensive lineman
Justin Noble are perhaps looking forward to playing UVa.-Wise.
The duo had standout games on the road last season.
Jones hauled in three catches for 85 yards.
The 85 yards receiving were a career high for the Winston-Salem, North Carolina native.
Jones also caught a touchdown as it was part of a three-game streak with a touchdown reception for Jones. Meanwhile, Noble racked up a career-best 10 tackles in the contest.
SACK MASTERS
In each of the four meetings between Concord and UVa.-Wise as MEC foes, the Maroon and Gray has had at least two sacks in each contests including two last season and five in 2015 at Callaghan Stadium.
The Mountain Lions are also coming off a two-sack game at UC.
Along with Neal's sack, Malone tallied his second career sack in the contest last week.
