REBOUNDING GUARDS
In the last four games, guards
Olivia Morgan,
Emily Boothe, and
Lindsey Overbey have combined to nab 64 of the 157 total rebounds for Concord.
Those three guards have combined to grab 40.7 percent of Concord's rebounds over that time span.
Also in the last four games, Boothe is averaging 6.7 rebounds per game, Overbey is averaging 5.7 rebounds per game, and Morgan has been grabbing 3.5 boards per game. All three players have averaged more rebounds over the last four games than they are averaging on the season.
Against West Virginia Wesleyan, Concord guards combined for 26 of the Mountain Lions 38 rebounds, including eight from Boothe, which tied her career-high.
BENCH PERFORMANCE
Concord's bench has been instrumental in helping CU earn a 3-1 record in its last four games.
After the CU bench scored just eight points at Shepherd, the Mountain Lion bench has averaged 31.7 points per game in its last three outings.
In Concord's last two matchups at home against Bluefield State and West Virginia Wesleyan, the Mountain Lion bench has outscored the opponent by a combined 33 points.
A key contributor to that success off of the bench has been the play of junior guard
Danielle Catron, who scored a season-high 25 points against Bluefield State.
The Marion, Virginia native also poured in 18 points to lead the Mountain Lions in scoring in the win against WVWC.
TRUE GRIT
Despite shooting its lowest field goal percentage of the season (22-of-64, .344) and being outrebounded by West Virginia Wesleyan 41-38, the Mountain Lions hung on for a 61-58 win over the Bobcats.
The gritty victory for Concord was the first time all season that it had won while being outrebounded, with CU previously 0-15 heading into the matchup with WVWC.
Although Concord shot its lowest percentage of the season, the Mountain Lions won with defense, holding the Bobcats to just 58 points and forcing 22 turnovers.
CU also held West Virginia Wesleyan to just 20 percent shooting in the first quarter.
BOOTHE CONTINUES STRONG PERFORMANCE
Boothe has now scored in double figures in eight consecutive games.
Boothe's first performance came against the Hilltoppers on January 16th, in which she scored 12.
In the seven games after the trip to West Liberty, in which she has started all seven, Boothe has averaged 15 points per game.
The Riner, Virginia native had only managed to score in double figures in five of her previous 13 games prior to that.
In addition to scoring, Boothe has also averaged six rebounds per game. The Mountain Lions have been 3-4 in games that she has started, with all four losses coming to teams with a .500 record or better.
SCOUTING WEST LIBERTY
West Liberty has lost two games in a row, dropping a close contest to Shepherd on the road before dropping a home matchup against Fairmont State.
