HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team hung tough with Marshall in an exhibition at the Cam Henderson Center Sunday afternoon as the Thundering Herd won 106-70.
After a fast start from Marshall that saw MU take a 20-5 lead six minutes into the game, Concord did not allow the deficit to grow much more. Matter-of-fact, the Mountain Lions were able to cut the lead to single digits, 26-17, after a basket from freshman guard
Trey Radcliffe at the 10:32 mark of the first half.
Marshall was never able to lead by more than 14 the remainder of the half until a late run gave MU a 55-36 advantage at halftime.
CU ran with the Thundering Herd's pace in the opening minutes of the second as senior guard
B.J. Hamlet canned a three-pointer in the first 12 seconds to narrow the gap to 16 points and a triple from sophomore forward
Trey Brisco with 16:07 left in the game got Concord to within 15 points, 62-47.
However, it was the closest the Mountain Lions would get for the remainder of the contest.
Hamlet led a trio of Concord scorers in double figures with 17 points. Of Hamlet's 17 points, 15 came on made three-pointers as he finished 5-for-10 from the behind the arc.

Darian Peterson and Radcliffe each tallied 11 points. Brisco and freshman forward
Jyles Webster each had six rebounds to pace the rebounding effort for the Maroon and Gray.
CU returns to Mountain East Conference play 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when it travels to Charleston.Â
