ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team opens up Mountain East Conference play in the quarterfinal round 2:30 p.m. Thursday against Charleston in Wheeling, West Virginia.

RECORDS
Concord enters the conference postseason as the seven seed after finishing the regular season 8-8 against MEC foes. CU posted a 14-19 overall mark.
UC went 12-4 in league play as it drew the second seed. The Golden Eagles are 16-13 this season.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord matches up against Charleston for the third time this season and second time in the last week as Charleston swept both matches including last Saturday at the Carter Center.
It will also be the second consecutive season the Mountain Lions have faced Charleston in the quarterfinal round of the MEC Tournament.
On Wednesday, junior middle hitter
Brooke Heck and freshman libero
Lindsay Maddox were voted to the All-MEC Second Team and Freshman Team, respectively.
For a third straight year, Heck finished the regular season with a hitting percentage over .300. The Huntington, West Virginia is hitting .310, and is the only CU player to achieve the feat more than once in a single season.
Additionally, Heck is second in the conference in hitting percentage and 10
th in kills per set (2.92).
Meanwhile, Maddox picked up an all-conference nod by placing seventh among liberos in digs per set as the Amherst, Virginia native had 4.71 digs per set during her rookie campaign.
In the final home matches of the season, senior setter
Casey Mandeville notched 40 assists to move within 26 assists of third place all-time at Concord.
Mandeville has 2,323 career assists and can pass Stephanie Smith for third all-time at Concord with 27 assists. Furthermore, Mandeville is already part of a list that includes Smith and Kami Meeteer as CU players to have multiple seasons of 700 or more assists.
In the most recent meeting with Charleston, Mandeville handed out 18 assists while sophomore setter
Jenna Mounts added 11 assists.
CU has beaten Charleston just once under head coach
Kate Dillon and that came last season at the Carter Center.
Heck and sophomore outside hitter
Ellie Lawrence each had 11 kills in the victory for the Mountain Lions while Mandeville helped out with 23 assists.
Last year in the MEC Tournament, Heck had 10 kills versus the Golden Eagles, and junior outside hitter
Alexi Pranckus added seven kills.
CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
The Golden Eagles had two all-conference selections when the teams were released Wednesday afternoon.
Outside hitter Carly Granger was a first-team performer while libero Kelsey Matusic was a second-team honoree.
Last weekend, Granger had 18 kills and a .500 hitting percentage against the Mountain Lions. Matusic added 14 digs.
Jour'Ney Powell is fourth in the league in blocks per set, tallying 1.01 per set.
