MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
BENCH PRESS
The Concord bench has provided an offensive output to help Concord to a 1-1 record in its last two games.
Against Fairmont State, the Concord bench outscored the Fighting Falcons 29-6 in a 70-54 loss, providing over 50 percent of the team's total scoring.
Sophomore guard
Emily Boothe energized the Mountain Lions off the bench, scoring 11 points and adding four rebounds. Also contributing from the bench were freshman forward
Madison May with five points and five boards, and junior center
Alley Odell, who added six points.
Overall, Concord had six players in the scoring column off the bench against FSU. The Concord bench added even more against Shepherd two days earlier, scoring 33 points to help Concord earn an important conference win, 72-69.
Junior guard
Danielle Catron sparked Concord's win with 19 points off of the bench, and Odell added 10 points and five rebounds to help CU secure its first MEC win of the season.
SINKING FROM THE CHARITY STRIPE
Clutch free throws in the dying seconds from senior guard
Alexis Lowery and Catron helped stave off a Shepherd comeback late to help Concord hold on for a win against Shepherd.
The Mountain Lions are knocking down almost 72 percent of their free throws, good for fifth in the Mountain East.
Concord has also shot the ball over 70 percent from the line in its past three games.
In the win over Shepherd, Concord went to the line 26 times, making 21 of those attempts. The free throws proved to be critical, as the Mountain Lions got away with a three-point victory.
Concord has also been to the line 20 times or more in two of its last three games.
BATTLING WITH THE BLUE KNIGHTS
In two matchups against Urbana last season, Concord lost by a combined 11 points.
In both matchups last season, the Mountain Lions managed to score over 80 points, a feat it accomplished only three times total last season.
In the matchup in central Ohio, Boothe, this time in a starting role, drained 10 field goals, including a 6-for-8 shooting performance from three point land. The Riner, Virginia native scored a career-high 26 points, while Catron also shot the ball extremely well, scoring 24 points on 60 percent shooting.
Senior guard
Olivia Morgan contributed double figures as well, scoring 11 points while dishing eight assists to give Concord three players who shot the ball 50 percent or better that game. In the friendly confines of the Carter Center, Boothe once again exploded off of the bench, going 6-for-12 from the field to score 19 points. Catron added 20 points.
SEEKING FIRST WIN
In six matchups against Notre Dame, Concord has never defeated the Falcons.
Concord came close last season on the road, trailing the Falcons by just two entering the fourth quarter. NDC eventually pulled away to earn a 12-point victory.
Notre Dame has won four in a row by double figures. Concord's only two defeats to NDC by single digits came during the 2013-14 season, in which the Falcons clipped the Mountain Lions by three at the Carter Center, before earning an 80-71 win at Murphy Gymnasium.
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
